Brewed in Belgium, this ale was actually banned from the US at one point, because of its name and affiliation with Delirium Tremens, a beer brewed by the same company and is named after the sickness Delirium Tremens, which is a sickness related to alcohol withdrawl. The Nocturnum, Tremens' sibling, is a dark Belgian Strong Ale, and is triple-fermented using three different yeast strands. The taste is complex, with notes of fruit and maltiness, and just a hint of sourness. Some site flavors of raisins, fig, chocolate, and fruits such as apple or plum. With a brewery that is over 350 years old, one can be assured that quality and art are both present in this beer, and with a bottle as fun as this one, this beer is often collected.
